Our objectives

We are affiliated with Taunton Welcomes Refugees, an established local charity that already works with refugees.
  • To make links with refugees from front-line communities, to help match them with local hosts
  • To welcome refugees and to support them as they settle-in
  • To coordinate volunteers supporting refugees/guests and also their hosts
  • To provide a supportive network for local people engaged in WWR as hosts, volunteers, donors or helpers, including by raising awareness of the complex needs and challenges that everyone will face and encounter
  • To collect, maintain and make available a record of the help, services and support on offer to refugees/guests in the area from local households, public bodies and specialist providers
  • To organise events, trips, activities etc that will support refugees/guests during their stay in the area and their hosts
  • To provide a line of communication, information and awareness raising between the group, local residents, partner organisations, local authorities and other interested parties
  • To form long-lasting and supportive links with communities in impacted areas
  • To raise and hold funds and other resources for the Association’s activities
