We are affiliated with Taunton Welcomes Refugees, an established local charity that already works with refugees.
To make links with refugees from front-line communities, to help match them with local hosts
To welcome refugees and to support them as they settle-in
To coordinate volunteers supporting refugees/guests and also their hosts
To provide a supportive network for local people engaged in WWR as hosts, volunteers, donors or helpers, including by raising awareness of the complex needs and challenges that everyone will face and encounter
To collect, maintain and make available a record of the help, services and support on offer to refugees/guests in the area from local households, public bodies and specialist providers
To organise events, trips, activities etc that will support refugees/guests during their stay in the area and their hosts
To provide a line of communication, information and awareness raising between the group, local residents, partner organisations, local authorities and other interested parties
To form long-lasting and supportive links with communities in impacted areas
To raise and hold funds and other resources for the Association’s activities
Wivey Welcome Refugees is a Community Association formed on 01-April-2022 with the aim of coordinating the welcome for refugees across the wider Wiveliscombe area. Taunton Welcomes Refugees is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation number 1183921(See the Charity Commission site here).
